If you develope Shingles, see your primary care physician immediately. Although there is no cure, your doctor may know how best to treat your symptoms.

Within the first three days, a doctor may be able to prescribe antiviral medication which can help ease symptoms.

Your doctor may also recommend over the counter medicine such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen to reduce pain. And to decrease risk of infection, topical antibiotics may be in order to keep your blistering areas germ free.

Depending on the severity, corticosteroids may be prescribed, but the need for those are often low.
